Bone Density Measurement Clinic
With the increase in life expectancy, the prevalence of osteoporosis is also on the rise. According to estimates by the International Osteoporosis Foundation, currently more than 200 million women worldwide suffer from this disease. Contrary to popular belief, osteoporosis is not exclusive to women and is also significantly observed in men. This disease remains asymptomatic until it leads to a fracture, which is why it is referred to as a "silent disease."
Since changes in bone microstructure resulting from decreased bone mass are largely irreversible, preventing the onset of osteoporosis is preferred over treating it. The aim of prevention and treatment is to maintain or slow down the rate of bone mass reduction and, if possible, to increase it. Because osteoporosis is called a "silent disease" and remains asymptomatic until a fracture occurs, one of the most important preventive measures is to raise awareness among the community and healthcare personnel about this disease and its management and treatment methods. Early diagnosis of the disease in its initial stages can help prevent fractures, which are the most significant complication of osteoporosis.
In this context, the Bone Density Measurement Center at the Diabetes and Metabolic Diseases Center, affiliated with the Endocrine Sciences Research Institute of Tehran University of Medical Sciences, is equipped with the latest bone density measurement devices and, utilizing an experienced team, welcomes patients daily for bone density assessments.
